15 YearsAs Enerjisa Üretim, together with our turbine supplier Enercon, we secured the right to develop 1,000 MW of grid connection capacity through the YEKA WPP-2 tenders organized by the General Directorate of Energy Affairs (EİGM) in May 2019.
The project comprises twelve wind power plants with a total installed capacity of 1,000 MW. Nine wind power plants, consisting of 180 turbines with a combined capacity of 750 MW, are located across the provinces of Çanakkale, Balıkesir, Manisa, İzmir, Denizli, and Aydın. In addition, three wind power plants with a total capacity of 250 MW and 60 turbines are located in Muğla.
One of the key objectives of the project is to support Türkiye’s growing energy demand through the increased utilization of domestic and renewable energy resources. Once fully operational, the project is expected to generate enough electricity to meet the annual energy needs of approximately 760,000 households, based on an average annual household consumption of 5,000 kWh. It is also expected to avoid approximately 2.14 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually, calculated using the combined margin emission factor for wind and solar power generation defined by the Ministry of Energy and Natural resources and applicable during the year of project construction.
YEKA WPP-2 Tender Programme: YEKA (Renewable Energy WPP Source Areas) investment model was established by the Ministry of Energy and Natural resources to increase the share of renewable energy resources in Türkiye’s electricity generation mix while enhancing energy resource diversity. Under the YEKA WPP-2 programme, wind turbines with a minimum local content requirement of 55% are utilized to support cost competitiveness, strengthen domestic manufacturing capabilities, and contribute to the development of a skilled workforce in the renewable energy sector.
The project encompasses a broad range of activities throughout its lifecycle, including project development, engineering, planning, civil and electrical construction works, equipment manufacturing and installation, as well as operation and maintenance services.
Through its extensive investment ecosystem and supply chain, the project is expected to make a direct contribution to the employment of more than 3,000 people. Furthermore, the investment is anticipated to support continued growth in Türkiye’s wind energy sector, which currently provides employment for approximately 15,000 people nationwide.
